Ribbesford House

In 2018, Samuel and his brother Russell Leeds bought Ribbesford House via auction through Andrew Grant for £810,000. The two were originally outbid at the auction house; nevertheless, the next day, they were told that the buyer had withdrawn. They also revealed a plan to restore Ribbesford House.

Ribbesford House is located on the outskirts of the Worcestershire town of Bewley, and it was originally built by the Herbert family in the mid-16th century.

In July 1942, Ribbesford House was visited by French General Charles DeGaulle. In 1947, the property was acquired by Alfred John Howell, an RAF Wing Commander. Howell converted Ribbesford House into private apartments.

The property includes a woodland, eight acres of land with gardens, outbuildings, and a cottage. Also, the building has two octagonal turrets. The house has nine bathrooms, 10 reception rooms, and 20 bedrooms.

Samuel said for The Shuttle:

”We are looking at several options as to how to best use the available space.”

Leeds went on to say:

”The accommodation really is vast and would suit people who love the country life but also want to be close to urban facilities.”

Samuel and his brother originally estimated £1 million for full restoration. In August 2019, work was well underway, but the building proved to be in a far worse condition than they expected.

Leeds said that they need £2 million for Ribbesford House restoration work, according to Country Life:

”We’ve now been told it will take at least £2 million to restore it to the best possible standard.”

Samuel later added:

”We are happy to spend that much on a building of this magnitude.”
